20081219 Christmas dinner at DIKU

The traditional christmas dinner at DIKU (Computer Science Institute at University of Copenhagen) was unusual great. The Tørstmester was fantastic, intellegent and had excellent humor :-), the food was great and it was really good to meed many old and new friends at the institute again. For my part the party ended 8.00 the next morning, taking the bus home. Thank you for the great party you organized.

20080524 European Song Contest

OK so The Danish song did not win, which nobody really beieved it would. But my afterthoughts seems to verify that the average European music taste has moved quite a bit since we has got many new countries in the European area. My sincere congratulations to Russia - they absolutely did a great performance and the song was fine.

20080524 Denmark and the Euro currency

During the last days a new debate has arised about enrolling Denmark into the Euro (currency) countries. I still remember that other countries wich adapted the Euro currency had a generally price "bump-up" of approx 10-25%. It is hard to see any reason for this just to have a new currency here. The few times every year I use foreign currencies I always use my credit card anyway without any trouble. In my view the thought is fine for a nation with one government, but we are not quite there yet in Europe. Which I belive is fine.

20080522 Simon Mathew secured his "seat" to the Eurovision Melody Song Contest semifinal

The show was great and Simon did a great performance. My vote went to Iceland. It is quite funny (awkward) that you only are allowed to vote on the nations that is in the same semifinal as our own song. And it seems that 5 nations still have a secured position in the final. (But they wont be played twice, when they don't compete in the semifinals) It must be a system invented by a frenchman! (don't ask me why, but it does not seems well thought out - if at all.)

20080319 Today a new mind boggling sentence has stucked inside my head.

"Rouven undoubtedly has the softest hands ever."
Biggest smile. ;-)

20080115 I saw the planet Mercury on a clear morning sky

This morning I had the pleasure of seeing the planet Mercury directly with my own eyes. I saw it from flight NB496 Sterling.dk flight from CPH to ARL on a clear morning sky. Unfortunately I did not have a camera I was allowed to use at the plane :-(

20080102 - New Years Concert with South Jutland Symphony Orchestra in Alsion, Sønderborg

Tonight Gert and I was lucky to acquire 2 last minutes tickets to the concert. The orchestra was directed by David Riddell, presented and solos performed Poul Elming and the Opera solo singer Nina Pavlovski. The orchestra was in great mood, and the newly opened Alsion concert hall sound was eminent and is said to be the (currently) most fine-tuned acoustic concert hall in northern Europe. I am not to judge weather this is correct, but it sure was eminently good. The evening was a great success and I enjoyed every minute of it.
